Color Matching

When you order a chopped frame, we make every effort to ensure that all four pieces are of similar color and grain. In fact, when possible we use only one stick of moulding. Orders for multiple chops of the same size or type of moulding are NOT selected to match one another unless specifically requested, in which case there may be an additional charge. Length orders are filled without regard for color or grain.

Length...

is random 4' through 8' with rare exceptions. Bird's Eye and Curly Maple may be as short as 3', and there may be some occasional 9 or 10' stock in various profiles. UPS will accept packages up to 9' long, but that means that the maximum moulding length is about 8'11". We DO NOT ACCEPT orders for specified lengths; length is sold by RANDOM lengths.

In order to qualify for the length price shown in our price list you must order a minimum of 20' of each moulding (i.e. if you order 30' of #R4 Maple, you still must order at least 20' of #R4 Cherry). Orders for less than 20' of length will be billed at the chop price.

On orders for less than 75' per item we will try to ship within 4' +/- of your order quantity. On orders over 75' per item we will try to keep within 5% of your order quantity.

Chops..

are cut according to the standards set up by the FACTS^© Institute. An allowance is automatically added to your measurements. On mouldings with a 3/16" rabbet it is 1/16", while all other mouldings it is 1/8". We will cut to other allowances, including no allowance (called "Exact") per your specific request. We have developed a footage chart to assist you in your cost calculations.

Shipping & Handling

Our mouldings are shipped by UPS Ground. Other UPS services such as Next Day Air, Second Day Air and Three Day Select are available, as well as others. Please ask for details, or see the UPS web site. Hundredweight pricing is used on ground shipments over 200# and air shipments over 100#.

If your order must be shipped by common carrier we will use one of our discounted carriers unless otherwise requested.

Freight is billed at cost, plus an order processing charge of $5.00 is added to every order.

Payment

We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Novus (Discover & Private Issue) credit cards for your convenience. Your order may also be sent COD - note that UPS charges $7 for this service, and trucking companies have charge as a percentage of the amount collected, with a minimum charge of $35. You may also pre-pay by check or money order, but you must call for a total including shipping. If you wish to establish an open account fill out a credit application.

Returned checks (NSF) will be subject to a $20 fee. We reserve the right to demand cash or equivalent upon receipt of a returned check, as well as for future orders.

Paint Grade Maple

We offer a special discount on Maple chops that you plan to paint. The primary incentive is that we don't need to match the sticks, but we will also allow visual defects such as spots and streaks that would normally mar a clear finish. An additional 5% discount will be applied to Paint Grade Maple orders. This option is for CHOPS ONLY, length orders do not qualify.

Corner Samples

Our corner samples measure 7-3/4" on the outside and are available either joined or un-joined. If you order them joined we glue them together and apply Velcro^© hook material for easy hanging on your display. They are mitered as if pieces of a chop, not "chevron" as some are.

A standard starter set is available, which includes one corner sample of each profile, plus one piece of each strainer and spacer. We provide a good mix of woods, with not less than two samples of each wood shown through the range of profiles. Individual samples are also available to start or add to your collection.
